Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Behavioral Interventionist to join our dedicated team in providing support to our spirited and high-energy 4-year-old boy with autism. The position will take place 3-4 days a week from 9:30-11:30am, in our home located in the N/W corner of Marpole, close to the Fraser River dog park in Vancouver. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioural intervention as well as early childhood education, and a deep understanding of developmental approaches such as child-led learning in order to engage and inspire our little guy in his daily routines. Current goals range from reciprocal play, and emotional regulation, to impulse control and physical coordination, just to name a few.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement individualized behavior intervention plans tailored to our son's needs Use positive reinforcement strategies to promote desirable behaviours and social skills. Monitor progress and adapt intervention strategies as necessary. Collaborate with ourselves, our Behaviour Consultant, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach. Assist in developing and organizing engaging activities that encourage communication and social interactions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Child Psychology, Special Education, Early Childhood Education or related fields. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with pre school aged children with autism. Strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for our son. Patience, creativity, a positive attitude and an innate ability to pick up on small behavioural nuances are essential.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
