QuickFacts is a Software as a Service (SaaS) company that organizes information and presents it on a searchable web-based application. We develop intricate, innovative software that is simple to use and saves our clients hours each day. Currently, we provide the solution to the insurance industry, offering brokerages a one-stop location for organizational workflows as well as all their carrier underwriting information, including custom-made comparisons, documents, training, and helpful tools.
We're looking for a seasoned back-end engineer who can design and scale reliable, high-performance systems from the ground up. This is a hands-on role where you'll write production-grade code daily, architect APIs and infrastructure, and build systems that drive our AI-powered platform. You'll work closely with front-end developers, DevOps, and product managers to create clean, scalable, and secure software that powers the next generation of QuickFacts' capabilities.
About the Role
As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you'll take ownership of core platform services, API development, and data workflows that connect our products and AI systems. You'll design and optimize scalable microservices, manage complex integrations, and ensure high reliability across all environments. You'll play a key role in shaping our technical architecture and best practices, while mentoring other developers and collaborating with the broader engineering team to deliver customer-facing solutions that perform at scale.
What You'll Do
Own Core Services:
Design, build, and maintain the APIs and backend systems that power QuickFacts' core platform.
Architect for Scale:
Develop robust, high-performance systems that can support thousands of concurrent users.
Collaborate Across Teams:
Work with product, front-end, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and efficient deployments.
Optimize Performance:
Continuously profile and tune backend systems for speed, reliability, and scalability.
Ensure Security & Quality:
Implement best practices for authentication, authorization, and secure data handling.
Automate & Streamline:
Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and monitoring systems for a more efficient development cycle.
Mentor & Share:
Support other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Technical Mastery
: 5+ years of professional experience as a back-end or full-stack engineer working in production environments.
Languages & Frameworks:
Deep expertise in one or more back-end languages (Node.js, Python) and familiarity with RESTful API design.
Database Knowledge:
Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB) and query optimization.
Architecture & Systems:
Proven experience designing microservices, distributed systems, and data integration pipelines.
DevOps & Cloud:
Familiar with containerized deployments (Docker), CI/CD, and modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean).
Security Best Practices:
Understanding of authentication flows, OAuth, API security, and encryption standards.
Communication & Teamwork:
Excellent communicator with a collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
Startup Readiness:
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities shift and impact is immediate.
Nice to have
Experience integrating with or deploying AI/NLP systems.
Familiarity with message queues and event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
Understanding of observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK).
Experience with SOC 2, GDPR, or other data security frameworks
