Our client is seeking a Senior - Back End Software Developer
Key Deliverables - Senior - Back End Software Developer
Product Requirements & Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of current system architecture, logical/physical design, and code structures. Define technical database changes in collaboration with DBA/Data Management teams to support new system requirements.
Product Delivery: Develop and modify PL/I and COBOL code (online, batch, workstation) aligned with signed-off technical specifications. Ensure integration with mid-tier systems and compliance with QA standards. Prepare test data, perform unit testing, and support integration testing and defect resolution.
Prioritization & Planning: Create and maintain technical specifications per OPS standards. Plan and participate in code retrofits, ensuring alignment across concurrent development efforts. Use mandated tools for source control and code library management.
Collaboration & Communication: Lead JAD sessions and walkthroughs to validate designs and secure stakeholder sign-off. Provide regular status updates to Project Manager and Technical Coordinator. Facilitate knowledge transfer to RUS and I&IT Cluster staff throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Expertise: Apply deep experience in PL/I, NetCOBOL, IMS TM, DB2, XML processing, and integration with non-mainframe web services. Utilize diagnostic and debugging tools to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Must have:
Experience with z/OS V2.2 or higher.
Expertise using file and database management tools (either File Aid V10.1 or higher, or IBM File Manager V13.1 or higher)
Experience with IMS DB V12 or higher (HALDB and DEDB) using the PLITDLI API.
Experience with DB2 for z/OS V11 or higher.
5+ years of experience writing mainframe PL/I transactions that process XML input and produce XML output and consume it.
Recent experience in using PL/I V4.5 or higher within the last 5 years.
