Senior Associate, ESG Communications

At Ciena, we pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability and building a strong culture. To bring our programs to the next level, we are hiring a Senior Associate, ESG Communications to develop internal and external content related to our social impact programs, sustainability initiatives, and culture. This role will be responsible for telling engaging stories that help enhance Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s reputation and align sustainability and people and culture programs to our company purpose. The role will also assist in our social impact programs, helping to drive employee engagement in community and sustainability.

Develop content and communications for Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s ESG programs:

  • Create engaging content for internal and external use to support Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s ESG/Sustainability programs and identify opportunities to enhance the visibility of these programs.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and write content for the CienaLife page of our website, showcasing our culture to external audiences.
  • Maintain ESG, sustainability, and social impact communications calendar to ensure regular cadence of storytelling both internally and externally.
  • Draft and build comprehensive internal and external communication plans to support social impact activities, including our Ciena Cares and Digital Inclusion programs.
  • Maintain, update, and assess ESG-related content for internal SharePoint sites.
  • Work with ESG Program Manager to update and maintain Sustainability web pages on Ciena.com
  • Collaborate with others in the Corporate Communications and Internal Communications teams to ensure message alignment and coordinate timing with other company-wide communications.
  • Work closely with our Social Media team for promotion of our stories as well as drumbeat of content for social
  • Track performance and viewership of our webpages and CienaLife content using Adobe tools.
Develop ESG and culture related content for use on social platforms
  • Work with Social Media team to craft posts for our social media channels on non-product related items.
  • Co-manage Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s Instagram channel to promote our ESG and people and culture content.
  • Working with various People and Culture teams, manage cadence and calendar or stories featuring our people and other aspects as Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s culture.
  • Source photos and other stories to keep up a drumbeat on social media.
Program management
  • Work with Social Impact Program Manager in promoting and/or manage community partnerships, and Ciena Cares giving and volunteering program.
Qualifications/Qualities:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a relevant field, including communications, marketing, business or sustainability.
  • Minimum two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a social impact, communications, or marketing role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong team player with good relationship management skills, including appreciation and understanding of cultural differences globally.
  • Keen interest in areas of sustainability, social impact, or people and culture.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and see projects through to completion.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly collaborative team member as well as ability to work independently.
