About the Team:
At Scotiabank, research is a key driver of our Global Equity platform. We specialize in the Canadian market, and we also supply targeted international research covering the United States and Latin America. Our top-ranked teams generate value-added equity ideas and themed publications. As well, we are constantly looking for ways to bring new products to market and provide clients with valuable research ideas and insights. Our products include daily company-specific investment views, monthly and quarterly sector updates, in-depth fundamental research reports, portfolio analysis and recommendations, and equity strategy commentary.

Position Highlights:
The Research Client Services Team (RCST) is responsible for supporting the Equity Research department by providing valuable internal analytical insights to management and research analysts for strategic decision-making and ensuring adherence to compliance requirements of the MiFID II regulation. As a member of the RCST, this position will assist in maintaining and developing the internal analytics capabilities of the team. This position will also assist with the administration of client research agreements and work closely with research analysts, senior management, and compliance teams as part of the overall MiFID II compliance framework.

Is this role right for you?

  • Produce periodical analytical summary reports for the Research Management team
  • Create analysis and reporting tools on an ad hoc basis to support internal data and analytical requests
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports that can be leveraged by users to find insights
  • Analyze client accounts to identify outreach opportunities and gauge account profitability
  • Work with Research Analysts to improve the format and delivery of their product
  • Understand business processes to analyze, interpret, and advise staff on analytical findings
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective use of reporting and analysis, and provide support, if needed
  • Understand and incorporate technology best practices with a primary focus on .NET and SQL
  • Liaise with other internal analytics teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency across the firm
  • Diligently perform quality assurance and assess operational and reputation risk
  • Monitor and analyze buyside client consumption of the research product
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries on the research product and agreements
  • Issue invoices for research clients and track payments with internal Finance teams
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We\'d love to work with you if you have:
  • Technical mindset with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel is required
  • Proven experience in SQL and .NET is required
  • Working knowledge of Angular and Python would be an asset
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to produce meaningful results from data
  • Proven experience consolidating and analyzing different data sources
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a cross functional team environment
  • Ability to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
