We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations within our retail environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on team development, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency. This role requires a proactive individual capable of managing multiple responsibilities, including sales management, inventory control, and staff supervision, to ensure the store meets its business objectives and provides an exceptional shopping experience.
Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of customer service
Supervise and motivate team members, providing training & development to enhance performance and productivity
Manage inventory levels through effective stock management, merchandising, and purchasing strategies
Handle sales transactions accurately using POS systems and oversee cashiering activities
Implement pricing strategies and promotional campaigns to maximize sales and profitability
Conduct employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding of new staff members
Oversee payroll processing, bookkeeping, and cash handling procedures in compliance with company policies
Maintain organized store layout through merchandising and stocking efforts
Monitor retail math metrics such as sales targets, budgeting, and inventory control to meet business goals
Ensure compliance with safety standards, store policies, and customer service protocols
Engage in marketing initiatives to attract new customers and retain existing clientele
Manage shift schedules, customer inquiries, phone etiquette, and overall store management tasks
Requirements
Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles with supervisory responsibilities
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and foster a positive work environment
Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
Proficiency in inventory management software, POS systems, cash handling, bookkeeping, and retail math
Demonstrated expertise in sales management, merchandising, pricing strategies, and marketing techniques
Ability to handle negotiations with vendors or suppliers as needed
Experience with employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, training & development processes
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control and store presentation
Knowledge of budgeting procedures and retail financial metrics
Customer service-oriented mindset with excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills
Prior assistant manager or supervisory experience in a grocery store or retail setting is preferred
