Senior Assessment Officer
Panel Review
Full-time, 2-year term position, working 75 hours bi-weekly
$100,700.14 - $116,417.88 per annum
A hiring preference will apply for qualified candidates of Canadian Indigenous ancestry, with a priority for qualified Yukon First Nation candidates.
Secondments from Yukon First Nation or other governments will be considered.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate degree and/or post-secondary training in environmental science, social science or a similar field of study is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered
- General knowledge of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act, as well as Yukon First Nations and First Nations Agreements, is required
- Experience managing complex projects is required
- Experience working in a First Nation government is considered an asset
The Senior Assessment Officer for Panel Review may work from one of YESAB\'s six designated office locations, which are:
Dawson City - Haines Junction - Mayo - Teslin - Watson Lake - Whitehorse
Relocation incentives may be available for certain locations
The , reporting to the Panel and Hearing Manager, will be a part of the Team. Currently the Panel Review Team is working on the . As a part of this Panel Review, and any future projects, the Senior Assessment Officer is responsible for:
- Conducting environmental and socio-economic assessments of Panel reviews
- Leading multi-disciplinary teams as a project manager with the goal of identifying environmental and socio-economic effects of projects
- Ensuring Executive Committee or Panel members are thoroughly briefed on all project details
- Ensuring that participants understand the panel review process and how to best participate in that process
- Engaging with communities, proponents, Government of Canada, First Nations and Yukon Government
- Preparing detailed evidence-based recommendation reports that present Panel Review outcomes
