POSITION: Senior Architectural Technologist

We help clients to develop high quality affordable housing, beautiful customer experiences and amazing workplaces. Our work within these project sectors comprises projects ranging from $1M to $100M in construction cost. Our projects are primarily in Winnipeg and occasionally across Western Canada.

We are a Winnipeg-based company, founded in 2001, with approximately 15 staff. Our team incudes Architects, Architectural Interns, Technologists, Contract Administrators and Office Administrators who all work collaboratively to bring projects to fruition. We work in a beautiful, light-filled office in the walkable Corydon area.

SUMMARY:

Affinity Architecture is a Senior Architectural Technologist to work closely with the Project Architect and a technical team, throughout the project lifecycle, to create, complete and coordinate construction documents for buildings of varying size and complexity. Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Assist with site visits and review of existing conditions. Participate in pre-design activities to verify suitability of project sites for their intended use. Understand and apply Affinity's graphic and filing standards for all assigned tasks. Assist with the preparation of a project schedule and implement that schedule throughout the project lifecycle. Interpret sketches and instructions from the Project Architect in the preparation of schematic design documents. Interpret sketches and instructions from the Project Architect in the preparation of 3-dimensional building models suitable to describe project design. Direct Revit model set up and production, to detail and develop projects. Assist with the evaluation of building materials, components and assemblies. Ensure application of building code review in the preparation of the construction documents. Conduct the production of detailed construction documents, and delegate tasks to a project team. Assist with managing an interdisciplinary sub-consulting team in the preparation of a comprehensive construction document package. Review and coordinate the drawings of various sub-consulting disciplines. Be responsible for permit application, including responding to AHJ queries and providing supplementary details as required. Participate in construction phase services, including field-observation and reporting, change documentation, supplemental instructions, contract document interpretation. Facilitate occupancy permit application and project close-out activities.

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND ABILITIES:

Excellent written, graphic, and verbal communication skills. Highly developed project management acumen. Capacity to lead a project team, including strong delegation capabilities. Commitment to technical accuracy, and adherence to office policies and standards. Knowledge of local construction techniques, or ability to rapidly adapt to local standards. Knowledge of local building code requirements and zoning bylaws. Good understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office. Willingness to share knowledge, and mentor junior staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Technical education, and certification with technologists' associations are considered an asset, but not mandatory. Greater than 5 years' experience is preferred.
