Description :Dream is looking for a Senior Architectural DesignerWe are always looking for the best and brightest to join our thriving community. Dreams Architectural team is currently looking for a Senior Designer to join our Western Canada - Land & Housing Team.Who are you?Theres a lot happening at Dream, and its happening fast. We want to hear from you.You will be responsible for maintaining daily plan production, while coordinating permit and architectural approval applications. Youll be actively involved in new product development and design, as well as enhancing existing products. As well as act as a liaison for internal departments and external vendors to ensure on time delivery of homes to our customers.We want to bring on someone who is eager to learn, work hard, and have fun. This is an opportunity for you to take on responsibilities, build on your already strong skill set and help your team achieve its goals, all in a work environment that is fast-paced, dynamic and fun.What will you do?Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person.

  • Prepare and oversee detailed designs and working drawings following project approval;
  • Function as a resource for technical questions with respect to design, be able to actively solve problems through the construction of projects;
  • Perform daily production workload activities so that production timelines are met;
  • Work independently and with a team on multiple projects at a time in various stages of the construction process to find efficiency in design;
  • Review and discuss onsite construction issues as they arise (framing, engineering, floor and roof layouts, finishing, electrical);
  • Formulate documents for Building Permit Submissions; draw site plans and complete grading;
  • Work with the Design team to review, develop and analyze scopes of work aimed at standardizing Dreams design activities and obtaining departmental KPIs;
  • Maintain CAD standards and plan consistency for all master files;
  • Assist in staying current by searching for new products and creating new designs that will help Dream build better communities and homes in the future;
  • Be an integral part of the housing team by working closely with other team members from different areas of the business, including Sales, Construction, Purchasing, Marketing and Finance;
  • Mentor Junior and Intermediate Architectural Designers on pre-construction processes for all municipalities and programs;
  • Plan checks and checking other Architectural Designers work;
  • Assist Manager with product development;
  • Interior and exterior palette selections and maintenance; and
  • Work to achieve common goals and strategies of different areas of the business while understanding the challenges and impacts each area has on one another.
What type of experience and skills do you have?These are only some of the things wed like you to bring to the table. We can cover the rest when we meet.
  • Postsecondary education in Architectural Technologies (Residential Stream)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in residential home design
  • Extensive knowledge of home building, estimating, construction building materials and building code standards
  • LEED accreditation would be an asset
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
