Arup in Canada is young, dynamic, growing quickly, and successfully designing and delivering remarkable projects. Building on our extensive global experience, we have established an architectural team in Toronto, to enhance our capacity to deliver integrated multidisciplinary design of a growing number of technically complex projects.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Architect to lead small to medium sized architectural teams for major projects from our Toronto office. The successful candidate will have experience in leading architectural design teams on major rail, transport and linear infrastructure projects, city planning or Science and Industry buildings in Canada, the US or internationally.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for small to medium sized architectural teams / projects and functions, as well as key contributions to larger multidisciplinary projects;
  • Manage and lead teams / projects to plan, execute and deliver architectural deliverables (including drawings, specifications, documents, and reports) for complex multi-disciplinary projects within agreed timelines and budgets;
  • Plan full project/activities and resources required e.g. time, people and skills;
  • Deliver and coordinate work in connection with other related work streams, disciplines, and the broader goals of the group or project;
  • Work closely with Leadership to set and maintain a culture of excellence, accuracy, attention to detail, and checking;
  • Instigate and manage project design and coordination reviews as well as client meetings and correspondence; and
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team.

  • Encourage collaboration with others, plan and cultivate client relationships, and encourage and lead creative activities;
  • Demonstrate good commercial discipline;
  • Support and grow Arup Architecture Canada\xe2\x80\x99s business to develop ongoing opportunities in the design and delivery of projects of significant scale and complexity;
  • Be capable and willing to travel within the Region (North America); and
  • Be capable and willing to sign and seal drawings and construction documents.
Qualifications
  • Professionally accredited degree in architecture (M.Arch., or 5-year accredited B.Arch.)
  • OAA, OAQ, or NCARB (or ability to obtain professional license within 1 year of joining Arup)
  • At least 8+ years of professional experience
  • Demonstrable experience leading small to medium sized teams on large scale architectural projects. Experience on Public Transit, Transit Oriented Development, and / or Science and Industry facilities is a highly valued asset.
  • P3/AFP experience is a highly valued asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical knowledge of relevant architectural software including but not limited to Revit, Autocad, and Adobe Creative Suite.
