About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Application Team Leader or Manager, the Senior Application Support Advisor will perform application configuration activities in accordance with Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99s application configuration standards and best practices. Working with Solution Architects and Business Analysts the successful candidate will assist in solution design efforts including analysis, design and architecture. They will collaborate with Project and Build teams (i.e. Quality) to ensure deliverables are built in accordance with defined quality standards.

Relevant Operational groups are involved to perform service transition activities to ensure production transition is successful by documenting application specifications and generating training materials including operational support manuals. In addition, this role participates in tiered application support activities including the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.

Responsibilities:

Analyze, configure, and implement specialized application software that satisfies application solution design requirements.

Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement improvements that follow IT standards, best practices, and processes.

Inform Solution Architects and Project Managers on the status of pertinent tasks.

Collaborate with Application Solution Architects, Portfolio Architects, Senior Business Analysts, Release Coordinator, and other technical resources on the delivery of application functionality.

Participate in tier 3 application support activities including incident management and the assessment and delivery of application upgrades and patches.

Provide continuity with Application and Infrastructure Management operational groups during service transition.

Oversight to execution of test plans, debugging and application of subsequent fixes.

Assist in the design and development of proof of concept and prototype application environments.

Perform detailed activity task management including task estimates and task progress updates.

Identify and evaluate risks and participate in mitigation and control activities including system upgrades.

Carry out testing of disaster recovery for applicable applications.

Maintain healthy relationships with key business stakeholders for operational, day to day activities.

Support Business Partner, Enterprise Architect and Portfolio Architect on technical strategies.

Support IT control activities (SOX, Cyber, PCI) and support audits.

Assist in IT Asset Management activities including application lifecycle planning, optimization and renewals.

Oversee delivery of enhancement scope and defect resolution (accountable for: business requirements, product quality assurance, change approval/RFCs).

Partner with Portfolio Architecture to create and maintain operational roadmaps for relevant, critical applications.

Qualifications:

Must be willing to work in the office in downtown Calgary.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

College diploma or university degree in Computer Science or related field. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum of 8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 related experience with at least 3+ years of experience with the following:

Application support, working in a Tiered service support role

Knowledge of the Health & Safety/Environment & Regulatory function

Demonstrated experience implementing, development and configuration of applications specific to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) goals.

Collaborating with external Application Managed Service providers

Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues.

Previous oil and gas experience.

Strong communication skills \xe2\x80\x93 both written and verbal and a collaborative team player.

Effective negotiation skills, able to facilitate collaboration between stakeholders with differing opinions.
