Join the Office of the Chief Risk Officer Modelling Team in the Senior Analyst, Modelling position. This role requires advanced mathematical, statistical and financial skills, programming and coding abilities, knowledge of data processing techniques and strong analytical skills to develop and interpret model results with the ultimate purpose of informing business\' risk management decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to model development to inform business\' risk management decisions employed for purposes such as own risk and solvency assessment (ORSA), stress testing, asset allocation, financial projections, underwriting and pricing.
  • Maintain models throughout their life cycle in accordance with CMHC\'s model risk policy and industry best practice.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams whose members may include model users, model validators, internal modelling experts, external modelling experts and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor model performance to ensure ongoing quality, contribute to resolution of model validation observations and proactively identify opportunities to enhance existing models.
  • Support the migration of models from development to production system environments.
  • Ensure models are appropriately documented and subject to appropriate controls, including change management protocols.
  • Apply knowledge of best practices together with advanced mathematical, statistical and financial methodologies into model design and coding.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Postgraduate degree or higher (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative discipline such as quantitative finance, mathematics, economics, statistics and actuarial sciences, engineering or other quantitative field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in modelling, model validation or quantitative analytics at a bank, insurance company, asset manager or other type of financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical finance and risk management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues and support business decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional designation achieved or working towards its achievement (Actuarial, Chartered Financial Analyst, Professional Risk Manager, Financial Risk Manager, Certificate in Quantitative Finance).
  • Experience with loss models, economic capital and stress testing.
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan insurance and securitization activities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of programming languages Python and R for statistical analysis, econometrics, machine learning, and/or big data analysis (with Spark). Knowledge of C++/Java, Matlab and SQL.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and instruments, housing and real estate markets and metrics applied to estimate financial exposure and losses.
