Your Opportunity:

The Senior Analyst will support the Alberta Surgical Initiative (ASI) and in particular the Provincial Surgical Patient Flow project led by the Institute for Healthcare Optimization (IHO), with expertise in measurement in the area of surgical patient capacity, planning, smoothing, demand, and flow. They will work with clinical and operational stakeholder groups as well as the project team and alongside team analysts supporting the project in meeting overall project deliverables and as relates to data representation, methodology, analytic products, and accountability reporting. The Senior Analyst will need and will develop strong expertise and understanding of the Connect Care Electronic Health Record data structures and workflows and build expertise in Epic\'s Clarity database. They will collaborate closely with both Connect Care teams and local sites on process and documentation practices. As IHO recommendations are implemented, the Senior Analyst will closely monitor and take part in engaging reporting needs related to updated content and monitoring best practice. They will form part of the ongoing team relating to these implementations by ensuring reporting and analytic solutions best meet stakeholder requirements. The ideal candidate is skilled in organizing and presenting complex information to a diverse audience: they are creative in effectively communicating to stakeholders and end users within the context of variation. Analytics in use may also cross over to a range of patient and system, outcomes whereby they will incorporate additional AHS data assets and utilize a breadth of analytic tooling. The Senior Analyst will contribute to data processes that curate and efficiently deliver data for multiple uses, thereby enabling benefit of the project outcomes in the longer-term.

Positions responsibilities are well characterized by: Business and Advanced Analytics: Explores processes in collaboration with operational/clinical teams to understand data representation for analytics. Contributes to data and process change discussions as part of Connect Care improvement recommendations from IHO to ensure analytic and reporting capability outcomes. Works on data-intensive projects, using modern data platforms, tools and advanced analytics methods and approaches. Works with broad AHS data holdings representing surgical patient flow through all points of care (ED, OR, ADT, HIM, etc.) in clinical databases as well as administrative data as needed. Influences the direction of analytic approaches in consultation with stakeholders at all levels of clinical operations to address complex access issues. Produces interactive visualizations for validation and reporting, and transitions to monitoring and improvement maintenance. Stakeholder Relationship Building and Collaboration: Cultivates a network of stakeholders and knowledge experts for process validation, data representation, and analytics feedback and supports a comparable range of users from leaders, managers, and front-line staff to IHO project, CIS, and analytics teams. Integrates operational and stakeholder feedback obtained through regular communication. Knowledge Growth and Improvement. Contributes to project and team knowledge capture through effective communication both written and verbal. Identifies opportunities to improve and applies best practice in use of analytic tools, version and change management, and development practices. Supports best practice within the PSDA Analyst team to ensure learnings and deliverables can be maintained and grown as an outcome of the IHO project especially as regards to leveraging Connect Care content and feedback.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s education with a strong quantitative component in a related field, e.g., community health sciences, health economics, biomedical statistics, epidemiology, quality assurance, or several years of equivalent experience. Additional Required Qualifications:

5-8 years\' experience in the following areas: Working with spreadsheets, databases, and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, reporting and disseminating data. Able to write complex SQL queries, understand database architecture, and be able to optimize queries for performance. Ability to clean and preprocess data to remove inconsistencies and errors, including data transformation, data normalization, and data aggregation. A good understanding of statistical analysis and be able to use statistical techniques to analyze data. Managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting deadlines. Comprehensive understanding of health systems and surgical processes and data. Proficiency in English, with excellent communication skills and ability to interact with clients by presenting complex analyses, methods, and findings in business- and user-friendly language. Demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams including peers and stakeholders at multiple levels. Ability to work in conjunction with operational personnel to translate front line processes to data representation and compare and contrast differences in those representations. Must abide by the highest standards of confidentiality and have a sound understanding of the principles within Alberta\'s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as the Health Information Act. Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Tableau or other visualization tools. Experience in Python, and in python libraries. Proficiency in Epic Clarity and/or other Cogito tools. Demonstrated capability applying analytic techniques such as data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling, etc. Demonstrated aptitude for educating, motivating, and influencing. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and software learning capability.
