Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), the Senior Analyst is focused on supporting cost reporting and analysis. The role also assists with annual cost benchmarking, forecasting, and planning activities.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and analysis for operating expenses and investment-related expenses for CPP Investments.
  • Supports the development of the annual budget and long-range projections for operating expenses and investment-related expenses.
  • Assists in the preparation and co-ordination of our cost benchmarking reports.
  • Works closely with other Finance groups to understand new external reporting requirements and work towards developing processes within FP&A to support those new reporting disclosures.
  • Promotes continuous improvements in processes and reporting, proactively identifying opportunities for enhancements.
  • Responds to enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identifies and thoroughly investigates reporting discrepancies and determines appropriate course of action on a timely manner.
  • Prepares documentation to demonstrate adequate processes and controls are in place to ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Adheres to internal policies and procedures, financial controls, and reporting requirements.
  • Works cross functionally with other team members and departments to ensure we remain aligned with our vision, goals, and value.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Business degree (bachelor or graduate) with concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional accounting or finance designation or working towards a professional designation such as a CPA or CFA.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related role.
  • Experience working within large organizations, pension fund or financial services industries considered an asset
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of Excel, including complex formulas and modeling.
  • Experience with financial management reporting systems. Experience with Oracle Financials, Oracle Planning Cloud Solutions, Tableau, or knowledge of Python is an asset.
  • Effective in oral and written communication - able to articulate complex information logically, factually, and persuasively.
  • Detail-oriented and proven problem-solver.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • A proactive self-starter capable of taking initiative, reliable and keeps commitments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and execute regular tasks within scope of role with minimal direction. Demonstrated ability to produce insightful analysis of business issues and suggest potential solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a performance-driven culture. Open to and comfortable with shifting priorities, new challenges, and managing increasing levels of complexity and ambiguity.
