The Senior Analyst role is located in Markham, Ontario and reports directly to the Director, Finance Shared Services. Their primary focus is to lead and manage the company wide AP Shared Services initiatives and streamline the Accounts Payables and related processes. The role will also require working closely with the AP Manager for any technical related matters. This position is a contract position for the duration of up to 20 months.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and resolve issues with the AP Automation Platform - Basware
  • Act as liaison to the IT team for process improvements, system and interface issues
  • Assist in the implementation of the credit card program and manage the ongoing process
  • Design and implement the vendor management process
  • Work closely with the Director and AP Manager to identify AP process improvement opportunities
  • Support the weekly cash requirement process as required
  • Identify and monitor training needs of the team, and design, plan, and implement training programs.
  • Assist in ITC related issues
  • Participate in the roll-out of the expense manager platform
  • Analyse and present analytics/solutions to management via monthly/quarterly AP reports and dashboard
  • Analyse the insights from the different dashboards data and leverage for continuous improvement
  • Work closely with vendors and procurement team to streamline the invoicing process
  • Process various reports, audits, and/or reconciliations including the creation of adhoc reporting monthly, quarterly, annually
  • Work with auditors with respect to A/P inquiries
  • Upgrade skills through training and research
  • Develop key performance metrics and service level agreements to track efficacy of shared service operations and to assure the delivery of efficient, quality and cost effective solutions to stakeholders. Provide reporting on performance metrics to create a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Benchmark shared services against peer group to measure and compare internal KPIs and best practices for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to adhoc projects as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • University/College degree in accounting or finance
  • Post qualification certification preferred but not mandatory (e.g. CPA, AP Certification etc.)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven minimum 5 years of work experience in a senior level Accounts Payable position
  • Familiarity with accounting softwares
  • Experience in the construction sector, or related field, is required
  • Demonstrated management, leadership and motivational skills
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Sound understanding of general ledger accounts and coding of expense reports
  • Familiar with sales taxes and GST/HST across Canada
  • JD Edwards, or equivalent ERP, knowledge at the intermediate level is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of people and answer queries in a professional manner
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible team player with the ability to function independently while working in a team environment
  • Work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced skills with Excel, Outlook, MS Office Word and Powerpoint
