The Senior Advisor, Sustainability & ESG Disclosure will play an essential role in supporting our senior leaders to ensure our ESG achievements and strategy are appropriately integrated, disclosed, valued, and understood by the financial and investment communities including inclusion in our financial reporting package.

This is a highly collaborative role, supporting senior leaders in Sustainability & ESG, Finance, Investor Relations, Accounting and Risk. The successful candidate will be a professional with related experience in financial reporting, valuations, project management, and business communication in addition to experience and interest in Sustainability and ESG. They must be a strong team player, build mutually respectful and collaborative relationships with internal contacts, and be keen to jump in to support team members where required. They will be a strong communicator, with the ability to evaluate best practices as well as effectively research, analyze and succinctly summarize complex information to enable strategic decisions.

What You Get to Do:

Liaise with others in the Sustainability & ESG team including the Sustainability Analytics & Performance Reporting and Sustainability & ESG Disclosure Managers to ensure we are bringing the latest expertise and guidance to internal accounting, finance and risk professionals as well as the external investment and finance communities through our financial reporting. In other words, further translate the amazing work that is being done in the company to communicate to external financial stakeholders.

Liaise with internal Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Risk specialists to further translate, quantify and integrate ESG risks and opportunities.

  • Provide recommendations to senior management around best practices in quantification of ESG risk and opportunities internally, and prudent external disclosure including liaising with external advisors.
  • Perform ESG-related evaluation for new and existing projects to support senior executives and managers with strategy, investment, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Support our Investor Relations and Capital Market teams on Sustainability & ESG related communications including material and presentations.
  • Lead evaluation of potential carbon offset risk and opportunities at the consolidated corporate level, liaising with subject matter experts.
Conduct ad hoc research and provide strategic recommendations to support ongoing corporate initiatives.

Who You Are:
  • You have an undergraduate degree in commerce or business with a major in accounting, finance, or a related discipline. CFA/CPA professional designation preferred.
  • You bring a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in financial reporting or a related field with strong and demonstrable accounting and financial analysis experience coupled with a keen interest in Sustainability & ESG. You speak the language of financial reporting processes and controls. High level knowledge and experience with IFRS would be an asset.
  • High level knowledge of existing sustainability best practices, reporting, regulation, and issues and knowledge of sustainability standards/guidelines would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as the ability to research and summarize complex information to make strategic recommendations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. A strong track record of successfully working in teams, and a proven ability to collaborate with others.
  • Excellent planning, time management, project management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in reporting, measuring, and assessing metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple and at times, conflicting parties, interests, and tasks.
