Summary of responsibilities:

The

Senior Advisor, Media Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement

is responsible for developing and implementing media relations, communications and engagement strategies that strengthen stakeholder partnerships and contribute to a positive corporate brand. The

Senior Advisor, Media Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement

performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in public relations, journalism, or another speciality relevant to the duties of the position. A minimum of five years (5) of experience in media relations, acting as official media spokesperson and executing effective news media campaigns, including development of media strategies, media lines, news releases, backgrounders, and Qs & A's. Minimum of five to seven years experience developing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experience providing strategic advice to senior officials on diverse, complex issues and initiatives. Strong understanding of communications principles, tools, and best practices, particularly involving media relations, social media, and issues/crisis management. Experience developing, planning, and coordinating strategic and tactical communications initiatives and events. Strong knowledge of traditional and digital media channels, trends, and platforms, as well as emerging trends, best practices, and innovations. Experience with issues and crisis communications, and ability to manage sensitive communication situations with tact and professionalism.

This position is best suited to individuals with the following skills and abilities:

Exceptional communication skills - (oral, written and comprehension) in both official languages. Excellent writing, editing and public speaking skills. Ability to communicate information concisely to various audiences. Strong priority management and project management skills, with superior ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects with diverse requirements and deadlines. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner and display a high degree of judgement, discretion, and decision-making ability. Ability to synthesize and articulate issues, problem solve, and recommend effective solutions. High attention to detail and quality. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Valuable skills include:

Knowledge of the organization, structure, and operations of the Government of Canada. Previous experience in the public sector. Awareness of Government of Canada's Policy on Communications and Federal Identity, Official Languages Act, Accessibility Standards Canada. Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.

Specific work requirements:

Ability to work overtime as required; Ability to travel as required Language Profile: Bilingual CBCC; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
