Job Details

Position Title: Senior Advancement Officer, Impact & Accountability

Status: Temporary Full-time (2-Year Contract)

Hours per week: 37.5

Faculty/Department: Advancement and Alumni

Campus/Location: North Campus

Salary: Band 4 (Min $63,976 - Max $95,966)

What you will do:

The Senior Advancement Officer, Impact and Accountability will lead gift fulfillment activities to deepen donor relationships and strengthen the culture of accountability at Humber College. Reporting to the Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement, the Senior Advancement Officer will be an advancement professional responsible for the development and implementation of high-quality and high-impact donor initiatives including impact reporting, recognition and other gift fulfillment activities for the Colleges major donors. The incumbent will help support revenue growth for Advancement and Alumni department and the College more broadly through the development and execution of strategies to cultivate long-term meaningful relationships and investment with donors and potential donors.

Donor Impact Reporting:

The Senior Advancement Officer, Impact and Accountability is responsible for the fulfillment of College obligations to donors including tracking and developing donor impact reports, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to major donors on the use of their gift.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement the annual stewardship reporting plan for major donors, including a detailed schedule of annual reporting requirements and milestones, while proactively planning for future years.
• Develop content and design donor impact reports.
• Oversee reporting to donors in a timely, consistent and accurate manner on the use, impact, and financial management of their gifts, in partnership with the Major and Planned Gifts team.
• Meet with internal stakeholders to ensure expectations are understood and goals are defined during the planning process.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather updates and progress on milestones and deliverables per the donor agreements.
• Work closely with faculty and students to gather information and updates related to the impact of the gift.
• Ensure that impact reporting actions in the database are tracked, up-to-date and accurate.
• Streamline and improve efficiencies of stewardship reporting processes to ensure accountability and convey an ongoing appreciation of philanthropic support to donors.
• Identify opportunities for impact reporting enhancement and innovation on an ongoing basis.

Recognition:

The Senior Advancement Officer, Impact and Accountability will implement initiatives and programs to recognize and strengthen long-term relationships with donors.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and implement donor recognition activities such as:
• Recommend stewardship and recognition benefits as part of solicitations conducted by Major Gift and senior staff, and meets deliverables committed by Humber to be provided to a donor on behalf of the organization.
• Develop personalized naming opportunity presentations and proposals for major donors.
• Assist with the coordination of recognition activities including gift announcements, signage unveilings, ribbon cuttings, tours and other stewardship and donor engagement events.
• Maintain and track inventory of existing donor recognition signage and naming opportunities throughout the College and determine appropriate naming valuations for new naming opportunities, ensuring consistency with industry trends.
• Liaise with signage vendors to coordinate the development of mock-ups, shop drawings, and specifications for donor recognition signage production and installation.
• Project manage signage projects, including large complex signage installs (i.e. external signage).
• Develop stewardship/recognition society offerings and benefits appropriate to area or donor giving level.
• Deliver creative and meaningful gifts and tokens of appreciation to donors.

Stewardship Program Planning & General Administration:

The Senior Advancement Officer, Impact and Accountability will contribute to the overall planning and facilitating of stewardship activities and perform systems and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities include:

• Contribute to the annual plan for the stewardship program.
• Maintain, track, and code relevant stewardship action activities.
• Work closely with and lead team members on special projects.
• Implement and maintain donor stewardship infrastructure such as policies, guidelines and standards, and processes that support stewardship activities.
• Identify and develop new strategic and innovative communication and recognition opportunities for new and existing donors.
• Review existing stewardship tactics and donor activity to assess and recommend further actions.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the department to ensure that stewardship actions in the database are tracked, up-to-date and accurate.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

Education

• A degree from a post-secondary institution in a relevant field such as Business or Public Relations and Communications.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum five years experience working in the not-for-profit sector and/or post-secondary or education environment
• Knowledge of all aspects of the fundraising cycle including key focus areas such as major and annual giving, special events, communication, finance and research
• Knowledge and experience in building philanthropic relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations
• Understanding of current and emerging best practices in stewardship and donor engagement
• Experience managing complex projects
• Experience stewarding gifts, particularly leadership ($1,000 - $24,999) and major gift ($25,000+) levels.
• Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate using tact and diplomacy with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities within the interdependent timeline
• Experience working with vendors regarding recognition methods (interior and exterior signage, donor walls, digital recognition systems, etc.)
• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Proficiency with Adobe products including Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Working knowledge and experience with donor databases such as Raisers Edge
