We have a rich history of consistently driving innovation, harnessing cutting-edge technology, and cultivating a dynamic environment that empowers our employees to shape the future.Reporting to the Supervisor, Administrative Accounting, the Senior Administrative Accountant will be a member of the Vancouver Administrative Accounting team with two subordinates, and will lead ledger accounting within Teck\'s corporate office, government filings, and oversight of the accounts receivable and expense report functions. This position also has a close working relationship with the tax, legal, and treasury departments.Don\'t miss out on this great opportunity to be part of one of Canada\'s leading mining companies and join our team!ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresReview and post vendor invoices, cash receipts, journal entries, and payroll uploadsLead and mentor two team members on processes, journal entries and indirect tax matters (GST & PST, and government filings)Assist with the intercompany billing processes, monitor accounts receivable balances, and respond to queries from various departments and customers (mainly other Teck operations)Assist with queries regarding corporate credit cards and expense reports, lead and advance delinquent expense reportsPrepare monthly General and Administrative Expenses report for the senior management booklet, including analyses of balancesAssist in the preparation of aspects of the annual budgetPrepare monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts including Intercompany Payables/Receivables, Fixed Assets, Accruals, and LeasesReview the trial balances of two subsidiaries, ensure accurate consolidation of the data, and ensure intercompany payable/receivable balances eliminateMaintain fixed asset register and review monthly depreciation entriesMaintain a lease register and prepare lease related journal entries in compliance with IFRS16Prepare or review WorkSafe British Columbia quarterly working paperReview tax returns including GST/HST, PST, QST, and non-resident taxPrepare supporting documentation for annual corporate tax filings, tax audits, and statutory government filingsAlign with SOX procedures and controls in addition to collaborating closely with internal and external auditorsImplement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency of internal controls and the financial close processAssist with any ad-hoc analysis or projectQualificationsAccounting designation, acquired or currently enrolled in the CPA programA minimum of 4 or more years of progressively responsible experience in the accounting functionExperience in leading all aspects of a small teamIntermediate to proficient Excel skill level with the ability to use pivot tables and vLookupIdeal candidate will have some experiences with indirect taxes (GST & PST)Experience in goal setting and task prioritization, in order to achieve business resultsOutstanding interpersonal skills and attention to detailsAbility to address problems by ways of tracking, supervising and resolving issuesEfficiently use software tools and applications to support roleAbility to delegate efficiently; recognizing where additional resources and/or technical assistance may be requiredAbility to build monthly financial reports in accordance with Head Office corporate requirementsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamWhy Join Us?At Teck, we offer more than just a job - we provide a pathway to personal and professional enrichment.
