POSITION SUMMARY



Reporting to the Clinical Supervisor, the Senior Addiction Attendant - Supportive Housing provides comprehensive community treatment and housing supports to clients participating in the Womankind Addiction Service's Supportive Housing program. A Senior Addiction Attendant - Supportive Housing provides assistance on a day-to-day basis through a continuum of functions that can include: initial and ongoing assessment, treatment planning and ongoing adjustments as required, monitoring a caseload of housing clients, seeking out housing options, building relationships with landlords and clients, community treatment, referral and integration of required services, life skill enhancement, advocacy, personal care coaching, self-efficacy promotion, and collaboration with other service provider to support relapse prevention. This role will be working at the central site and other sites in the community. This position is located at the YWCA with potential to be placed elsewhere if required.



QUALIFICATIONS



2 year community college Diploma in a Health or Social Service Program, with an addiction concentration Must have related experience working with women with substance use issues Certification by the Addiction Intervention Association an asset First Aid Certificate required Valid driver's licence and appropriate operator's insurance 2-3-years experience working with women and their families with addiction and/or in recovery from addiction and/or mental illnesses and knowledge of local community agencies and the addiction and mental health treatment network/system 2-3-years experience in group therapy for addiction and/or mental illnesses Understanding of evidence-informed clinical practices for women with concurrent disorders and ability to complete standardized provincial assessment tools Community development, advocacy, conflict resolution and networking experience, specifically focused on homeless clients, clients with an addiction and/or mental illness Working knowledge and familiarity with the Landlord and Tenant Act, The Tenant Protection Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code Experience assessing client housing needs and negotiating with landlords and assisting clients to secure and maintain appropriate stable housing Must have a good knowledge of community resources, the addiction treatment network and evidence-informed practices for women with an addiction Demonstrated ability to work with women in crisis with good problem solving skills, as well as the ability to act on own initiative and accept responsibility Demonstrated ability and experience in relating to others in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner Attendants must have skills in managing personal stress Ability to do thorough and accurate recording and documentation Good verbal and written communication skills are essential French language skills considered an asset Good work performance and attendance record is essential


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



Monitor caseload of clients involved in supportive housing program, maintaining professional collaborative relationship with landlords, and other supportive housing, addiction and mental health partners Assist clients to obtain housing and negotiating rental agreements with landlords Assist clients to meet their rent payment and tenant responsibilities through monitoring, education, advocacy, assisting client to obtain supplementary supports Regularly monitor and assess client's specific needs to enhance independent living capabilities Provides a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere to assist client in identifying and resolving identified issues Provides resource materials, support and information to clients, family and friends regarding addiction, housing and other identified issues Performs all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager


WAGE RATE



Hourly: $30.57....$31.92......$33.27
