Job Description


We are a unique practice in the Canada marketplace that focuses on the development and enhancement of insurance solutions targeted at large customer or membership bases of clients (e.g. banks, credit unions, retailers, associations, hospitality providers, etc.). As a senior actuarial analyst in our practice, you will be a key resource in helping to manage and assist in the delivery of key actuarial analyses, inclusive of development and enhancements to supporting models, coaching junior resources, and assisting the insurance consulting teams with client deliverables. You will be exposed to a variety of lines of insurance business and unique solutions supporting an ever-evolving marketplace.

We are seeking a qualified candidate that can support our senior consulting leaders on a team with a significant and exciting growth trajectory across a variety of sectors and insurance lines of business in the market (e.g. embedded credit card insurance, travel insurance, home & auto insurance, life and health solutions, etc.). We are seeking a qualified candidate that can work well in teams to support our consulting mandates and can also work independently (with appropriate guidance). This includes assisting other senior team members with their projects as it relates to key insurance lines of business.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in Willis Towers Watson\xe2\x80\x99s study program in pursuit of a professional actuarial designation through either the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or the Society of Actuaries\xe2\x80\x99 (SOA) general insurance track. This position has a significant upward growth trajectory to support client consulting on a prospective basis.

Responsibilities

  • Providing actuarial and analytics support on various insurance business lines and programs;
  • Manage the timeline and delivery of key client deliverables;
  • Lead or assist with pricing, loss reserving, financial modeling and forecasts, and benchmarking;
  • Actuarial support to senior consulting staff on consulting mandates, including data reconciliation and compilation, production of reports, presentations, summary analyses, etc.
  • Leveraging of technical skills to assist with the streamlining of processes, increasing efficiencies and providing additional perspectives on tackling challenging actuarial problems;
  • Development of analysis to support strategic recommendations related to bidding processes for partner relationships on behalf of our clients;
  • Support to actuarial and non-actuarial senior consultants on both technical and program strategy issues, inclusive of client and third-party communications.
  • Assist with other research and presentation material for new client prospects.

Requirements
  • University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Minimum of 2 years of P&C actuarial experience (pricing, reserving, analytics)
  • Pursuing professional designation through the exams of either the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) general insurance track
  • Highly organized, resourceful and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective and efficient time management skills; ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and work independently
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience and knowledge of MS Office (strong focus on Excel, with experience in Word and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with actuarial programming in languages such as \xe2\x80\x9cR\xe2\x80\x9d
Other Valuable Candidate Assets
  • Experience with using pricing and reserving tools such as Igloo, ResQ, Emblem and Radar or commercial equivalents
  • Experience with dashboard reporting tools such as PowerBI
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Experience with personal insurance programs
