To continue to support the work that we do, the Agency is looking for a full-time Senior Accounting Clerkto join our Finance team.



We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accounting Clerk to support our financial operations. This role is responsible for month-end processes, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and supporting Ministry submissions. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and compliance across various funding streams and organizational entities.



Key responsibilities:




Perform month-end tasks including journal entries, accruals, sub-ledger clearings, and report maintenance Reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts Prepare and analyze financial reports and statements for non-child welfare programs Assist with Ministry reporting and year-end audit preparation Reviews and approves accounts payable and accounts receivable for posting and printing of cheques and transmitting EFT files Support banking activities: deposits, transfers, wire payments, and account setup Contribute to HST filings and annual Charity Returns Maintain financial records and grant transactions for the Family and Children's Services Foundation


Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:




Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, ideally in a not-for-profit environment Solid understanding of month-end close processes, accruals, financial statement preparation, and account analysis through working with financial/accounting systems (Oracle, CPIN) Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Strong analytical and report-writing skills to support financial oversight Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities Professional, respectful, and collaborative approach to working relationships Skilled at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines efficiently Knowledge of Child Welfare system is considered an asset Employment at Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region is conditional upon the verification of credentials and employment, a satisfactory police check, and a satisfactory Child Welfare check.


Salary Range:

$56,731.76

- $68,690.16

per annum (Office & Clerical, Grade 6)


Hours of Work: 34 hours per week
