Job Description


One of the high-profile clients in the Energy/Natural Resources sector is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) for a long-term consulting engagement in Vancouver, British Columbia. This Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) consulting role will be mainly 100% remote, however, may require traveling to the Vancouver office on occasion as required. You\'ll be interested in this position if you want to be our client\'s primary point of contact for all financial issues, including project spending, planning, forecasting, and annual budgeting. You\'ll be interested in this Senior Financial Analyst consultant position if you want to perform analysis of the operating results and financial performance of core business segments supporting public reporting requirements and providing decision-making support for future company investments.

Responsibilities

- Analyze financial results, distill/synthesize key trends, assess current and future business risks, and communicate critical updates to senior leadership all in the course of preparing monthly and quarterly management reports

- Capable of communicating updates to senior management, analyzing financial results, and distilling/synthesizing key issues in the course of advancing existing management reporting

- Create sustainable business, operational, and financial processes widely understood by all necessary teams

- Team closely with Functional leads by executing management reporting, advising in accounting and compliance, and ensuring operational initiatives are in alignment with each other

- Assist in other ad-hoc analysis and presentation requests

- Build positive relationships with key business partners and Finance/Accounting leadership

- Coordinate with Operations and Accounting to discreetly and accurately track financial results in order to drive improved management reporting

- Assess and execute financial analysis in order to optimize business performance

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you are a designated accountant (CPA or equivalent), with at least 7+ years of post-qualification experience in manufacturing, construction or project management industries. You are comfortable working independently and can collaborate with business partners outside of finance areas.

- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence key decision-makers

- Necessary education includes a BA/BS degree in Finance, Business, or a related field

- Quality experience with Ad Hoc Reporting

- General familiarity with Intangible Asset

- Earlier work involving management reporting

- Previous experience working with Microsoft Excel

- Prepaids experience highly desired

- SOX experience

- Expertise in documentation

- Foundational knowledge in accruals

- Good understanding of MS Dynamics 365 Business Central

- Wide ranging experience with variance analysis

- Well-founded grasp of property accounting

- Practical knowledge of reconciliations

- Deep understanding of accruals

- Proven knowledge of property accounting

- Prior experience with process reengineering and optimization

- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

- Ability to think critically and interact with management

- A thorough understanding of office systems, reporting software, databases and other BI tools recommended

- CPA or MBA preferred

- Ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems effectively

- Highly skilled with Microsoft PowerPoint
