We are seeking a Senior Accountant/Accountant (dependent on experience), Capital Assets to join our Finance department in Edmonton, AB. The Senior Accountant/Accountant Capital Assets is responsible for the administration of the Fixed Asset sub-system; the incumbent will monitor and prepare asset transactions, assist in planning and forecasting of all fixed asset balances and transactions and regulatory filings as required.

What you get to do:

  • Completes account reconciliations between the Fixed Asset subsystem to the General Ledger and follows up on outstanding entries
  • Prepares asset continuities and Audit Package
  • Performs depreciation block test
  • Prepares depreciation forecast and variance analysis
  • Prepares monthly fixed assets journal entries
  • Prepares NBV calculations and perform intercompany affiliate asset transfers
  • Update depreciation rates in fixed asset subsystem
  • Prepares and records salvage cheques
  • Compile data for regulatory filings
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in commerce, or an equivalent combination of experience and a non-commerce degree
  • Professional accounting designation or advanced degree (CMA, CGA, CA, MBA) is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-designation financial experience is required
  • Sound knowledge of financial and utility accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Oracle Financials would be an asset
  • Proven ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to deliver under tight deadlines, using proven problem solving and prioritization skills
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team
  • Experience in regulatory environment would be an asset
