Job Description


Our client is looking to hire a Senior Accountant. Reporting directly to the Director, Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant will be an experienced accountant whose primary responsibilities will be the preparation and maintenance of accounting records to support periodic financial closes and related consolidated financial reporting; as well as overseeing, coordinating and directing activities, projects and initiatives related to internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).

This individual must be a self-starting team player with a \xe2\x80\x9ccan-do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude and the communication skills and personality to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional, international mining organization. You must have the proper balance of skills, experience, and attitude to be successful in this role.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Review regional reporting packages and prepare corporate consolidation adjustments for non-operating companies and select operating companies. You will:
  • Review of regional inventory schedules and preparation of corporate inventory schedules.
  • Review of regional property, plant and equipment (\xe2\x80\x9cPPE\xe2\x80\x9d) schedules and preparation of corporate PPE schedules.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow schedules.
  • Communicate regularly with regional accounting offices.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliation and prepare elimination entries for capitalizations, loans and associated interest charges.
  • Prepare external financial reporting support including but not limited to Financial Statement notes.
  • Prepare new and maintaining existing ICFR, including risk assessments, flowcharts, risk & control matrices, and control narratives.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide supporting documentation for financial and Sarbanes Oxley Sec 404 (\xe2\x80\x9cSox\xe2\x80\x9d) audits.
Requirements

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • CPA or written CFE
  • Minimum 3 years of full cycle accounting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
  • Experience with complex consolidations for a global multi-jurisdictional, multi-currency organization.
  • Experience with the COSO-2013 controls framework and SOX internal controls standards and related required SOX documentation (e.g., process narratives, flowcharts, risk- assessment workbooks etc.).
