About the Company
Our client is a home warranty protection company. They are looking for a Senior Accountant who will provide monitoring and analysis of the departmental operating expense as well as participate in the annual forecast and budgeting process.

About the Opportunity
  • Responsible for the monthly accounting cycle through preparation of accounting, analysis, and preparation of the month-end entries;
  • Develop and recommend accounting model for new transactions by applying accounting principles
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure adherence to cutoff procedures and prepare reliable financial information to senior management.
  • Be the first line of review of financial transactions by reviewing costing and accounting information submissions from other departments.
  • Analyse and prepare monthly, quarterly and year end financial statements and required schedules for management reports.
  • Prepare adhoc analysis and reports for senior management and Board of Directors/various Committees, as requested.
  • Provide assistance in investigating reconciling items in accounts reconciliations
  • Assist with the year-end external audit working papers
  • Escalate and investigate system errors affecting financial records including collaboration with IS to determine appropriate fixes/resolutions.
  • Act as in-house expert for general ledger reporting tools e.g. NVision
  • Maintain PeopleSoft General Ledger and various accounting modules.
  • Assist other Finance team members in system processing issues and any related UAT testing or FMS development, as required
  • Prepare cash flow projections to ensure liquidity and recommend excess funds to be transferred to investment managers when applicable
  • Review the cheques generated for payables (Accounts Payables)-Ensuring that the transaction is approved, the amount and payee are correct based on actual invoice.
  • Review banking exceptions.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the annual forecast and budget templates for the departmental operating expenses.
  • Assist with the analysis of departmental budget variances and costing issues.
  • Act as back-up for payroll processing as required.
About You
  • CPA designation or in progress
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required
  • PeopleSoft Financial Management systems knowledge is an asset
  • Insurance background is an asset
  • Access to High-Speed Internet connection at home is essential
Salary Range
$85,000 - $90,000/year
