Dakota Dunes Resort is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of our full-service resort, including hotel, golf course, food & beverage, and event operations. This role is responsible for accurate financial reporting, oversight of AP and AR functions, bank reconciliations, and maintaining strong internal controls while providing financial insight to resort leadership.

The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, hospitality or multi-department experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced resort environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Financial Reporting & General Accounting



Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements for hotel and golf course operations Maintain general ledger accuracy through journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Ensure accurate revenue recognition across lodging, golf, food & beverage, and events Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis

Accounts Payable & Receivable



Oversee Accounts Payable processes, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and timely payment processing Manage Accounts Receivable functions, including customer billing, collections, and cash application Ensure proper controls over vendor payments, credit cards, and electronic payment systems Reconcile AR balances and investigate discrepancies

Cash Management & Bank Reconciliations



Perform monthly bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations Monitor daily cash activity and ensure accurate recording of deposits and payments Assist with cash flow analysis and short-term cash planning

Operational & Resort Accounting



Review and reconcile daily revenue reports from PMS, POS, and golf management systems Support inventory accounting for food, beverage, golf merchandise, and supplies Partner with department managers to monitor costs and improve financial performance

Compliance, Controls & Audit



Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulations Prepare and support internal and external audits, including schedules and documentation Assist with sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings

Leadership & Process Improvement



Provide guidance and mentorship to AP/AR or junior accounting staff Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy Collaborate with hotel and golf leadership to strengthen financial controls Maintain general ledger accuracy through journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Ensure accurate revenue recognition across lodging, golf, food & beverage, and events Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis

Qualifications:



Required



Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Hands-on experience with AP, AR, and bank reconciliations Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Must be eligible to work in Canada

Must be willing to work in Whitecap, Saskatchewan

Preferred



Hospitality, resort, hotel, or golf course accounting experience Experience with PMS/POS and golf management systems Multi-entity or multi-department accounting experience
