Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing key aspects of the full accounting cycle, including prepaids, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accruals. This role is also a key contributor to continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Opening New Vendors and Customers
Perform bank reconciliations
Execute wire transfers
Process accounts receivable and monitor collections, customer deposits, bad debt reserve.
Manage and reconcile prepaid accounts
Manage and reconcile accrual accounts
Prepare and file monthly GST/QST reports
Review and process employee expense reports
Maintain and review the chart of accounts
Prepare and post journal entries and month-end adjustments
Perform detailed GL account reviews and analysis of miscellaneous expense accounts
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
Support full financial reporting requirements
Help apply and maintain internal financial controls to ensure data integrity and safeguard company assets
Provide support for project-based and ad hoc accounting requirements
All other related tasks
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3-5+ years of relevant accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with GST/QST reporting
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
Proficient in Word and Outlook
Fluent in French and intermediate in English. Intermediate English is required to communicate with headquarters, clients, and international suppliers.
