Overview


Our client is seeking a forward-thinking and analytical Senior Accountant to join our growing team, with a strong focus on providing advisory services to our clients. This role centres on delivering strategic financial guidance, tax planning, and business advisory, while also managing compliance and financial reporting functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both personal and corporate tax, including various corporate structures, and will be adept at identifying opportunities for clients to optimize their financial performance. With multiple projects to manage, your ability to prioritize and provide value-driven advice will be key to helping clients achieve their business goals. You will work closely with management and utilize the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) framework to drive continuous improvement for both the firm and our clients.

Responsibilities



1. Client Management & Advisory:



Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering advisory services including financial analysis and strategic planning. Regularly engage with clients to assess their needs and identify opportunities to expand services. Work with management on complex advisory tasks, such as corporate restructuring, M&A, and high-level transactions.

2. Tax Planning and Compliance:



Lead tax planning strategies, ensuring clients minimize liabilities and comply with tax laws. Prepare and review complex corporate and personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:



Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements - including compilation engagements. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, providing analytical support to guide decision-making.

4. Budget & Time Management:



Manage client engagements within budget and timeline constraints, ensuring that deadlines are met while maintaining high standards of quality. Monitor time spent on client tasks and ensure accurate time tracking for billing purposes.

5. Team Leadership and Development:



Mentor and support staff accountants, fostering a culture of growth and development. Participate in regular EOS-driven team meetings and ensure the team's alignment with EOS tools and principles.

6. Compliance and Audit:



Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies. Coordinate tax filings and audits, working closely with auditors.

7. Cross Department Collaboration:



Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure consistent service delivery and streamlined workflows. Foster open communication across teams to address client needs and support overall business goals. Work with other teams to share insights, solve problems, and ensure the seamless execution of client engagements.

8. CRA Communication:



Act as the primary liaison with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of clients. Handle client inquiries and provide support in resolving CRA disputes, audits, and assessments. Ensure all client communication with the CRA is accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation or equivalent. Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting or cloud accounting environment. 2+ years of experience providing tax planning and client advisory services. Deep knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring staff accountants. Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks Online, Tax Cycle and Karbon. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects. Knowledge of US personal tax returns would be considered an asset Knowledge of T3 trust tax returns would be considered an asset
