The Opportunity



We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team of professionals. This is a permanent full-time position which is structured as 100% remote. Candidates from all across Canada are welcome to apply as we support fully remote positions regardless of province or territory.

This position is responsible for performing QBO & QB Desktop Accounting Assessments, handle the onboarding of new clients and implementation of internal systems. In addition, you will be performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks to support each client and ensures the daily accounting functions run accurately and efficiently.

The Senior Accountant is an essential position providing services for clients in the Construction and Landscaping Industries across Canada & the USA.

About You



You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting You have 3+ years experience working in an Accounting Firm working with small businesses You have 5+ years hands-on experience working in a full cycle accounting You are a whiz with QBO, QB Desktop & Microsoft Office Excel, and are always eager to learn new technologies You have a focus on building and managing meaningful internal and external client relationships You have an insatiable curiosity to learn more and apply your technical knowledge to identify issues and offer recommended solutions for both your clients and co-workers You have excellent time management and organizational skills to juggle multiple deadlines and engagements Construction industry related experience, project based accounting experience considered an asset

Reporting to the Managing Partner, you will be responsible for:



1. Contribute to excellence in Client Experience, resulting in A ratings from clients in our quarterly check-ins and 5-star Google Reviews



a. Proactively interact with Clients through regular telephone calls or email

b. Report Client Status on a regular basis to the Managing Partner

2. Excellence in completion of client projects, month-end and regular accounting services. Excellence means:



a. On-time:



i. Meet target deadlines set for client onboarding and other projects

ii. Month-ends completed by the 20thday of the following month

iii. 100% Compliance with tax and payroll deadlines (including HST, instalments, payroll taxes, payroll, T5018)

b. Within budget:



i. Within the budgeted hours allotted for projects, proactive communication before projects have a chance to go over budget or outside of initial scope

ii. Continually improving the efficiency of regular tasks such as payroll, month-ends, and more

c. Reliable: reasonably free from errors, improving quality over time, not making the same mistakes twice

d. A+ Client experience: making the process enjoyable for clients and producing valuable deliverables

e. Continuous improvement: development of your own skills as well as contributing to the improvement of Southbrook's processes

f. Coaching and reviewing bookkeepers' work

3. Ensure effective communication with all positions in the company, contributing to a positive culture of active communication, accountability, and teamwork



a. Same-day responses to client or internal communication

b. Contribute to and maintain our practice management software and data

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
