Position Summary:
The successful incumbent in this role will join a small team that provides financial services, analysis and support to our 5 locations in the Prairies. Initially, this role will be primarily providing support to our Winnipeg location. This role ensures all financial activities align with company goals and objectives while supporting the alignment and integration of business processes and financial operations within our Salit Group of Companies to enhance efficiency and consistency. A strong attention to detail and accuracy is required to be successful in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and review various day-to-day accounting transactions and journal entries
Reconcile GL accounts (accounts receivable and payable, intercompany, inventory, etc)
Review monthly bank reconciliations for Canadian and US accounts
Participate in various monthly accounting cycle activities and reporting of key metrics
Variance and margin analysis
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Submit provincial and federal government reporting and tax filing
Complete payroll processes through QuickBooks (for our Winnipeg office) and ensure necessary remittances are made in a timely fashion
Transition to Dayforce may be required at a later date
Provide benefits administration as needed
Participate in the preparation of forecasts and budgets
Assist with the compilation of year-end audit reports and requests
Participate in cross-training to provide coverage for other positions within the team as needed
Support ongoing projects and initiatives
Willingness to learn new skills and provide input to improve current processes to create efficiencies
What You'll Need:
Post secondary education in business, finance or accounting, combined with a minimum of 5 years' full-cycle accounting experience
Preference for a candidate who has completed or working towards their CPA designation
Very proficient working with Google Workspace apps and Microsoft Excel
Experience in aSa/Sage MAS 500 and Ceridian Dayforce software would be an asset
Experience with QuickBooks - accounting entries and payroll
Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas is an asset
Preference given to those with experience in the construction, manufacturing, or steel fabrication industry
Travel may be required to our other 4 locations, particularly our Winnipeg office initially
