Reporting to a well-respected Controller, and VP, Finance; you must be able to handle a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to change. You should be an above average communicator who can build trusting relationships with co-workers, managers and a variety of different personalities while possessing a strong business acumen.

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership and management of the month end process including adjusting entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Maintaining the Capital asset reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly GST returns
  • Quarterly assist with budget preparation and analysis
  • Annually prepare year-end financial statements including all working papers for audits
  • Assist in financial audits and audit queries and SR&ED queries
  • Provide support and assistance in the transition of accounting systems to NAV (as and when needed)
  • Provide support to the Controller with tactical and strategic initiatives
  • Provide support to the AP/AR and Payroll functions within the team as needed
  • Prepare weekly cash report for the group of entities
  • Mentor and train junior accountant in the day-to-day duties
  • Other duties as assigned Full cycle accounting experience
  • Solid business acumen and technical analytical skills
About You

The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Canadian Accounting Designation with 1 - 3+ years of post-designation experience in a similar role
  • Strong communication skills and be able to work in a team environment
  • Flexible and able to handle a demanding and challenging workload
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work through problems and provide analysis and recommendations
  • Understanding of payroll, corporate tax returns, and SR&ED returns
  • Cash management experience
  • Exceptional organizational skills, time management skills and a willingness to learn with a strong process/systems background and experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders/customers
  • Ability to deal with senior management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention detail
  • Professional, friendly, approachable demeanor and ability to remain energetic and positive in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and desire for constant improvement
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Products (word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Creative problem-solver with a knack for designing and implementing great new processes
  • Excellent verbal & written interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility about job responsibilities
  • Strong desire to help the accounting team/office as a strong contributing member and be productive
About the Job
  • Healthy base salary $ - commensurate with years\' experience
  • Ideally targeting $80,000 - $100,000 base salary
