Senior Accountant - Full Cycle Accounting (CPA)



This hybrid-role at a fast-growing organization within the complex special needs industry that will report to the Finance Manager and will be instrumental in supporting the day-to-day accounting needs of multi-unit operational business. Performing full-cycle accounting, including the application of expense management that supports the financial reporting function and dashboard metrics is important. Finding gaps and providing recommendations that drive reporting efficiency is also important.

Summary of Responsibilities



Execute month-end close, quarter-end, and year-end activities to meet reporting deadlines Prepare quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for individual business units Collaborate with the accounts payable, payroll and operational teams to ensure GAAP compliance Prepare journal entries and schedules for assigned entities and consolidated financial statements Review invoices, journal entries, and reports prepared by accounts payable for accuracy Follow up to resolve accounting discrepancies Assist with tax filings, including GST/HST, income tax, and payroll remittances Prepare audit information and supporting schedules for external accountants Prepare, review and reconcile invoices for industry partners Support the corporate budgeting process Ensure that all documented internal controls, approvals and procedures are adhered to Identify and provide recommendations regarding process improvement opportunities Support implementation of improved processes and controls Provide back-up support to payroll, as required Other duties and projects within Finance department as assigned

Accountabilities



Adhere to deadlines around month-end, cut-off issues, reconciliations, and reporting Work with other team members to ensure deadlines are met Prepare and input journal entries, maintain G/L to financial statements and subledgers Conduct monthly reconciliations

Qualifications



Critical thinking is an important aspect to the position Completion of accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) and university level education Minimum 4 years of experience in a structured and complex full-cycle accounting environment Experience with complex financial statement analysis and reporting Financial statement consolidation experience Experience with Quickbooks High level experience in computer skills: Microsoft Office including advanced level MS Excel skills Takes ownership and capable of operating independently Effective critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills Strong attention to detail while remaining productive Excellent verbal and written communication skills Team player with strong interpersonal capabilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively Able to prioritize workflows within time constraints Comfortable and confident in asking questions

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
