The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual financial statements for the Company and its affiliates, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and public company reporting requirements. This role supports financial reporting, audit coordination, and operational accounting while contributing to budgeting, variance analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
The Senior Accountant works cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and external auditors, applying strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting
Prepare and assist in the consolidation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Support the preparation of MD&A, press releases, and other regulatory filings for SEDAR/TSX submissions.
Assist in the coordination of quarterly and annual audits, including preparation of working papers and supporting schedules.
Contribute to the preparation of internal management reports, forecasts, and performance analyses.
Maintain reporting schedules and reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate close processes.
Accounting & Compliance
Record and review journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, IFRS, and internal control procedures.
Participate in documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of internal controls to meet public company requirements.
Assist with accounting for complex transactions such as acquisitions, revenue recognition, and intercompany eliminations.
Support tax and compliance processes by preparing schedules and responding to auditor or regulator requests.
Budgeting & Analysis
Collaborate on the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
Perform variance and trend analyses to identify drivers of performance and recommend corrective actions.
Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making and strategic initiatives.
Operational Support & Systems
Support accounts receivable, billing, and operational finance functions as required.
Assist with maintaining and improving financial systems and data integration processes.
Contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives across the accounting and reporting functions.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
Participate in special projects, including process improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and financial analysis assignments.
Identify opportunities to strengthen reporting accuracy and streamline workflows.

Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of IFRS.

Technical Knowledge
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or equivalent ERP systems an asset.
Familiarity with SEDAR, TSX, and OSC reporting standards preferred.
Education & Experience
CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) required.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a public company environment.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, audit, and compliance processes under IFRS.
