Senior Accountant

gas & convenience, liquor stores, coffee shops (some franchised), pubs, and property management

--and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us as we continue expanding.

The Senior Accountant will work directly with the Ownership Team and Second-in-Command, and will play a key leadership role within our collaborative accounting department.

The Role



We are seeking a

Senior Accountant

who will take ownership of technical accounting, multi-entity reporting, tax coordination, and process improvements across the group. This role combines higher-level accounting responsibilities with hands-on support for daily operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both leadership and practical accounting work.

You will work with

Sage, QuickBooks, Excel, Google Sheets/Drive

, and will help us move toward more consolidated reporting and stronger financial systems.

Tax Compliance & Support



Assist with preparing documentation for external advisors related to corporate tax filings. Coordinate with internal teams (store managers, operations leads, business division heads) to collect the required information for tax credits, incentives, and compliance. Support tax-related audits by preparing schedules and responding to information requests. Maintain organized documentation for tax and compliance purposes across multiple entities.

Corporate Accounting



Support senior leadership with complex accounting matters, including intercompany transactions, capital projects, and multi-entity consolidations. Prepare and/or review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and technical schedules. Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple businesses and locations. Assist with internal and external reporting, including variance analysis, dashboards, and supporting schedules. Oversee certain full-cycle accounting areas and provide direction on improvements in workflow and documentation. Supervise, mentor, and train operational accounting staff--providing guidance on processes, system usage, and best practices. Support ongoing system consolidation efforts and help streamline processes in Sage, QuickBooks, and our shared-drive based workflow.

We are seeking a strong, well-rounded Senior Accountant who enjoys being involved in both the technical and operational sides of accounting. Someone humble, independent, and resourceful, who thrives in a

fast-paced, collaborative, retail/hospitality environment

and can communicate confidently across departments.

Ideal Qualifications



CPA designated or very active in the CPA program (strongly preferred). 3+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience. Experience in public practice and/or industry (both are assets but not required). Strong multi-entity accounting experience and comfort with complex operational environments. Solid knowledge of Canadian corporate tax concepts (coordination with external tax advisors is acceptable). Hands-on experience with accounting systems (Sage, QuickBooks, ERP or POS integrations). Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort working in a multi-system environment. Ability to train, guide, and support intermediate-level accountants and bookkeepers. Strong communication skills and comfort partnering with operational leaders across retail, hospitality, and property.

How Much



Salary Range:

$80,000 to $95,000
(depending on experience, qualifications, and depth of technical skill)
