Senior Accountant
to join our finance team and help drive financial accuracy, transparency, and strategic insight across our growing network.
Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing timely financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role reports directly to the Accounting Manager and plays a key part in supporting the Controller and VP of Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and review adjusting journal entries and reconciliations to ensure monthly reporting packages comply with GAAP/ASPE.
Maintain the general ledger and assist in developing financial models and reports.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Assist with regulatory reporting and ensure timely statutory filings (GST/HST, EHT, WSIB, T4s).
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting functions.
Hire, train, and mentor accounting staff.
Liaise with external accountants and partners on tax and audit matters.
Accounting Operations
Research and resolve accounting issues to ensure compliance.
Support treasury management, accounting policies, and procedures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and controls.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years
of experience in
accounting and finance.
CPA designation (or in progress) and/or AICPA certification preferred.
Experience with U.S. accounting and tax returns is an asset.
Cannabis or retail industry experience strongly preferred.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Advanced Excel skills and a willingness to learn new systems and tools.
