A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$75,000 - CAD$85,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. About the role:
The Senior Accountant will support Adastra's finance function by handling core accounting duties, from preparing financial statements and managing accounts payable/receivable to overseeing tax remittances. The position provides financial insights into other departments, supports strategic decisions and helps ensure operational efficiency.
Duties and responsibilities (include and are not limited to):
Financial reporting:
Prepare quarterly/annual financial statements for Adastra and affiliated entities, ensure compliance with IFRS and regulatory reporting deadlines, and maintain the general ledger and intercompany reconciliations.
Accounts payable/receivable:
Oversee end?to?end AP/AR processes for a large supplier and client base, coordinate weekly supplier payments and prepare cash?flow forecasts.
Tax compliance:
Administer GST/HST/PST filings across multiple jurisdictions and keep audit?ready documentation for government authorities.
Financial analysis & cost insights:
Analyze financial statements and cost data to identify trends, support budgeting and evaluate the financial impact of operational decisions.
Teamwork & collaboration:
Support junior staff, and work with production, logistics and commercialization teams on capital asset management, costing and process improvements.
Strategic support:
Prepare ad hoc reports and KPI analyses to inform executive decision?making and assist with other projects as assigned.
Potential for Ad hoc projects.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/competencies:
A diploma or degree in accounting or a related field.
A minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
Proficiency in using QuickBooks Online, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Understanding of Cannabis regulations and products preferred.
Knowledge of Canadian tax laws is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong ability to multitask, problem solve, and meet deadlines.
Flexible and open to new tasks and projects.
Knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations preferred.
Punctual and reliable.
