JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Accountant



REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:



Reports to the General Manager & Controller AP Clerk reports to the Senior Accountant

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:



The Senior Accountant oversees the company's financial and cost accounting, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient financial management.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



1. Financial Management & Reporting:



Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, profit & loss reports, and cash flow statements in accordance with ASPE/GAAP. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes. Develop financial policies and internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency. Support year-end external financial review

2. Cost Accounting & Budgeting:



Monitor and control manufacturing costs, including material, labor, and overhead expenses.

Implement and maintain cost accounting systems Prepare and oversee annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.

3. Taxation & Compliance:



Ensure compliance with local tax laws, HST, and corporate taxation. Prepare and file tax returns, liaising with tax authorities and external auditors. Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and implement necessary adjustments.

4. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):



Conduct financial risk assessments and provide recommendations to management. Support business growth by providing financial insights and feasibility studies for new projects. Develop financial models to improve efficiency and profitability

5. Strategic Projects:



Enhance Inventory and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting Support ERP evaluation and implementation Automation of AR and AP processes, receipts, and payments Prototype Division database, processes and reporting set-up Due diligence preparation (when required)

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:



Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred) Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting Experience in the manufacturing sector, preferably in wire harness or electrical components production. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, financial management, and tax regulations. Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools. Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
