Our client is a private investment company based in Edmonton, Alberta, with a diverse portfolio of investments, both geographically and by industry. As part of our growing accounting and finance team, you'll play a key role in managing financial reporting across multiple industries.
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Senior Accountant to join our in-office team in downtown Edmonton. In this role, you'll be responsible for financial reporting, consolidation accounting, tax compliance, and supporting investment operations. You will work closely with both corporate and on-site accounting teams, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Review financial records, including trial balances, general ledgers, and working papers.
  • Record month- and year-end journal entries, including accruals, loan payments, prepaid expenses, and foreign exchange conversions.
  • Perform consolidation accounting across multiple entities, including non-controlling interests.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including year-end working papers and note disclosures under ASPE.
  • Assist in preparing MD&A reports and support external accountants with year-end review engagements.
  • Provide support for income tax compliance, including filing tax returns and reviewing external tax filings.
  • Work with the investment team on current and upcoming opportunities.
  • Help develop and implement improved processes, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
  • CPA designation with 3+ years of progressive experience, including public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of ASPE or IFRS and Canadian tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, technical accounting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word (Dynamics GP and CaseWare are assets).
  • Ability to work 100% in-office in downtown Edmonton.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
