Position Overview


As our financial operations grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced

Accounting Specialist

to join our team. This role will manage day-to-day accounting functions and contribute to accurate month-end, year-end, and budget reporting. The position is

fully in person

at our Edmonton office. It starts as part-time (20-25 hours per week) with the potential to transition into full-time as responsibilities expand.

Key Responsibilities



Accounts Payable:

process invoices, payments, ensure proper coding, and reconcile vendor accounts.

Accounts Receivable:

prepare invoices, record donations and grants, follow up on outstanding balances.

Month-end & Year-end Support:

prepare reconciliations, working papers, and schedules.

Budgeting:

assist with preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis of organizational and program budgets.

Deferred Revenue:

track and reconcile balances in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.

Grant & Fund Tracking:

support restricted/unrestricted fund reporting and compliance requirements. Maintain accurate records in

Sage 50 Desktop

. Assist with audit preparation and provide required documentation. Identify process improvements to strengthen financial controls and efficiency.

Qualifications



Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation or in progress is an asset. 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a

nonprofit organization

. Proficient with Sage 50 Desktop. Strong experience with

AP, AR, reconciliations, working papers, and budgeting

. Knowledge of

deferred revenue, restricted funds, and grant compliance

. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations). Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines. Clear and professional communication skills.

Position Details



Location: Edmonton, AB (

) Hours: Part-time (20-25 hours/week) with potential to grow into full-time Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $26,975.00-$70,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 37.5 per week
