Ktunaxa Enterprises Ltd is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. We are looking for someone that is outgoing and embraces change and innovative forward thinking. We prefer someone with a CPA designation but will consider non-designated individuals with relevant accounting experience.
Responsibilities
Accounting
Oversee all core accounting functions including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, month/year-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Manage cash flow forecasting, day-to-day banking, and oversee existing and new loan arrangements.
Drive strong internal controls, compliance practices, and contribute to policy development and audit readiness.
Manage and oversee the daily accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Project Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of junior accounting staff (A/R, A/P, PO) to ensure efficient workflow, adherence to deadlines and timely processing and collection of payments.
Train and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Complete monthly reconciliations (A/R, A/P, bank, debt, and capital asset reconciliations).
Provide backup coverage for payroll as required.
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead the preparation of the Annual Budgeting Plan, forecasting updates, and support the development of the 5-year Strategic Plan.
Oversee the budgeting process by coordinating with department heads to develop and monitor budgets effectively.
Prepare revenue and expenditure actual vs. budget variance analysis.
Auditing and Tax
Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and ensure successful completion of annual audits and tax filings.
Prepare various PBC requests for external auditors throughout the year and review other PBC's before providing to external auditors
Coordinate with external auditors to complete the annual year-end financial review and tax returns and ensure timely resolution of any issues raised.
Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting or Finance
6+ years proven accounting experience
Strong experience in full-cycle accounting experience (AP/AR, month-end close, payroll, etc.)
Experience with constructing or civil contracting industry is a strong asset.
Professional accounting designation, such as CPA is an asset
Familiar with Sage accounting system
Strong competency in Microsoft applications including Excel
Ability to research, understand and apply accounting guidance and regulations

Salary: $80,000-$90,000
(based on experience)
