Senior Accountant (Capital)
The Seven Oaks School Division, situated in Winnipeg's Northwest corner, is seeking a caring and knowledgeable individual to join the accounting department in the position of Senior Accountant. The Division has an operating budget of $208 million and has 27 schools with a student population of approximately 12,500.
As a member of the Secretary-Treasurers' Team, the Senior (Capital) Accountant manages and reports on the organization's capital expenditures, including reconciliations and compliance with policies and regulations. They work closely with various departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis while also preparing documentation for audit and statutory reporting. Excellent oral and written communication and people skills are required, with the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with staff and management at all levels, both internal and external to the Division.
The successful candidate is preferred to have their CPA designation or presently be enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program; an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 2-3 years of relevant progressive business experience in accounting and finance, with a minimum 2 years' experience of financial reporting) may be considered.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated strengths and experience in accounting, internal control functions, analytical activities, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, audit schedules and annual budgets, main frame financial management and financial technology.
Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with spreadsheets and financial software is required. Knowledge of C.I.M.S. accounting software, FRAME and PSAB accounting systems, and federal and provincial tax regulations would be considered an asset.
The current salary range is $69,926 to $89,296 with a comprehensive benefits plan
