Position Overview:



Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all accounting and financial reporting activities within the company. This position serves as a senior technical resource, providing expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and taxation across both Canada and the United States. The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with team members and stakeholders across the organization to ensure that all financial activities are executed accurately and efficiently. They are also a mentor and advisor to more junior team members, providing guidance, insight, and technical leadership that supports both individual and departmental growth.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement. They will be proactive in identifying risks and opportunities, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.

What You'll Do:



Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, supported by clear analysis and commentary to assist management decision-making. Manage all aspects of cash flow, including forecasting, balance transfers, foreign exchange management, credit facility usage, and usage of surplus cash. Support multi-entity accounting operations including review of transactions, AR/AP netting, transfer pricing, expense splitting, and intercompany dividends/borrowing. Track and monitor fixed and prepaid assets and prepare journal entries for their amortization and depreciation. Prepare budgets and forecasts that facilitate effective financial planning and monitoring. Provide technical expertise on accounting standards, financial controls, and compliance requirements, ensuring that all processes align with legal, tax, and company policies. Serve as a subject matter expert on taxation in both Canada and the United States, advising on cross-border considerations and compliance. Collaborate with and mentor junior members of the accounting team, providing guidance on best practices, accuracy, and professional development. Facilitate external audit and year-end processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of deliverables. Contribute to process improvements and the development of tools or models that enhance financial visibility, accuracy, and efficiency.

What You Bring:



Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.

Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related discipline.

CPA designation.

Robust understanding of all aspects of full cycle accounting.

Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.

Strong knowledge of Canadian and US tax law.

Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work in a high pressure/high demand environment.

Experience with NetSuite an asset.
