Position Description



We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and detail oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team (6 month contract with potential to become permanent). The focus of the role will be maintaining the accounting records at the entity level and to provide timely and accurate financial reporting information to the business division and corporate in a compliant manner.

Position Responsibilities



Maintain the integrity and timeliness of the underlying accounting records for multiple locations. Perform required month end reconciliations and prepare corresponding documentation for approval and processing. Types of reconciliations include but not limited to bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, capital asset continuity schedules, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue adjustments, inventory adjustments, intercompany reconciliations. Prepare month end financial and operational reporting packages for financial and management reporting. Integrate and oversee full cycle accounting records for acquired entities. Assist with preparation of full cycle accounting records for existing entities including but not limited to revenue (billing), accounts receivable, expenses and accounts payable. Perform other daily and weekly financial and reporting requirements as needed. Ensure positive continuous improvement to the accounting and reporting function and associated processes. Ensure the financial and accounting policies and programs are followed and comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Other duties and projects may be assigned.

Qualifications



Minimum 5 years accounting experience. Experience with Sage 300 or similar enterprise management and accounting application is considered an asset Experience in the transportation and/or environmental/waste services industries as well as with Trux and/or Navusoft Business Solution Software would be considered an asset. University degree (Accounting or Finance) CPA designation or working towards CPA designation Strong computer skills in all office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel). Exceptional communication and organizational skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects. Proven ability to work independently while being a team player.
