Key Responsibilities: Core Accounting Duties
Maintain accurate financial records in
QuickBooks
(Online or Desktop).
Process and manage
Accounts Receivable (AR)
and
Accounts Payable (AP)
.
Reconcile
bank accounts
,
credit cards
, and
general ledger
accounts regularly.
Prepare and post
journal entries
, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
Assist in
month-end and year-end close
processes.
Payroll & Benefits
Accurately process
payroll
for all employees, including statutory deductions and remittances.
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with employment standards and tax regulations.
Handle T4s and year-end payroll reporting.
GST and Compliance
Prepare and file
GST/HST returns
accurately and on time.
Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal tax requirements.
Maintain organized records for any potential audits or reviews.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare
monthly financial statements
, cash flow summaries, and custom internal reports.
Support
budget preparation
, financial forecasting, and expense tracking.
Highlight financial trends and offer insights or suggestions to improve financial performance.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with leadership on business planning and cash management.
Support and guide other staff on accounting processes as needed.
Help improve financial workflows and internal documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years
of experience in a full-cycle accounting role.
Strong proficiency in
QuickBooks
(must be comfortable managing all entries and modules).
Solid understanding of
AR/AP
,
payroll processing
, and
GST/HST filing
.
Experience managing accounting in a
small business or lean team
environment is preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial matters clearly.
CPA designation (completed or in progress) is an asset but not required.
