Employment Opportunity Human Resources Coordinator
The HR Coordinator is a new and integral role in the future growth of the
YMCA. The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, organization
and excellent communication skills to our already dynamic team. We are
looking for an individual who wants to make an impact in our community. Position Overview
Human Resources
\xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to understand and interpret Canadian Employment
Standards act and relevant provincial employment legislation.

  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention

strategies aligned with YMCA Values and Strategic Plan.
  • Receive; Organize and pre-screen applications
based on job search criteria and forward files for
presentation to hiring managers.
  • Schedule and participate in Interviews with Managers
and candidates.
  • Administer benefits program for qualified employees.
  • Organize orientation packages for new employees.
  • Organize departure check list for departing employees.
  • Update the communications team of expiring/ completed

and upcoming job postings.
  • Presentation skills for career fairs, recruitment events

and public engagements.
  • Maintain personnel files.
  • In conjunction with the senior leadership team, develop

and oversee employee recognition program.
Administration
\xe2\x80\xa2 Schedule some meetings and record meetings as necessary.
  • Coordinate and maintain YMCA Child Protection documents
for all YMCA team members.
Community Impact
\xe2\x80\xa2 Support Community Impact team with donation receipts,
event planning and organizing vendors.
  • Copying letters, printing labels, organizing mail outs, etc.

General YMCA Responsibilities
\xe2\x80\xa2 Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our mission, vision and values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member
focused approach to increase their understanding of programs
offered across the association. Represents the YMCA and the
association in a professional manner.
  • Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report
suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
  • Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and
integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings
with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications
Your attitude, skills and interests are important to us. We are looking for people with diverse backgrounds who have a
combination of the following:
  • High school diploma plus post-secondary courses in office systems, procedures, business administration
  • Experience working in a fast paced and dynamic office environment with 2+ years of experience
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite software: Word, Excel, Outlook,

Powerpoint, Publisher, Etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Customer Service Experience
  • Ability to work independently, and to contribute and co-operate in a team environment
  • Team player. Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience in the principles of recruitment. Human resources are an asset
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
  • Ability to work some evening and weekends with advanced notice
  • Must pass a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.
