Scope
As a Security Systems Technician, you'll play a key role in keeping City facilities safe and secure by installing, maintaining, and repairing advanced security systems including cameras, alarms, access control, and network cabling. This hands-on position offers variety, technical challenges, and the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while ensuring reliable protection across City sites.
Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems including data networks, fiber optics, CCTV, DAS, and audio-visual systems.
Set up and service security systems such as intrusion alarms, ULC fire monitoring, access control, and intercoms.
Repair and maintain automatic door systems and related hardware.
Diagnose and fix issues with circuits, components, and equipment.
Perform inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on alarm and security systems.
Complete conduit and wiring installations, including termination, testing, and labeling.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Program and configure networked security systems and microprocessor-based devices.
Respond to service calls and troubleshoot system issues on-site.
Maintain accurate records, including service reports, work orders, and inspection logs.
Assist with cost and material estimates for security projects.
Collaborate with other staff and support team operations as needed.
Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12.
Certificate of Qualification as a Security Systems Technician plus 5 years of progressively responsible relevant experience. An acceptable equivalent of education and experience may be considered.
Class C-R - Security Alarm FSR Certification if applicable.
Security worker license.
Valid BC Driver's License with safe driving record.
Be able to obtain and maintain Enhanced SPS Reliability Security Clearance.
