We are currently seeking a driven and energetic individual to join our growing business in eastern Ontario as a Security Supervisor. Under the general supervision of the Security Shift Manager, this position is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day activities of security operations at the site level. Assists with the implementation all new security operations initiatives. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, positively contributes to an entrepreneurial culture that is nimble, energized and growth oriented. Above all else, must be aligned with, and promote, Shorelines Casinos culture and philosophy of creating a great, memorable experience for our guests and colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Exceeds guest expectations by providing outstanding customer service.
  • Helps create an engaged work environment by choosing positivity and fun, recognizing excellent peer performance, and by caring about and supporting our colleagues every day
  • Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to the Security team while providing continuous coaching for success to achieve high performance.
  • Facilitates all departmental training for new hires and executes additional training for procedural changes or updates as directed by the Department /Operations lead.
  • Ensures all team members complete online training modules prior to beginning in a new role and refresher training as assigned.
  • Assists in the implementation of the departmental strategic plans.
  • Mentors, coaches and trains front line security staff, including best practices for the non-gaming record keeping system.
  • Assesses team member performance, aids in short & long-term goal settings, identifies areas of improvement, and provides performance reviews to human resources and senior managers
  • Verifies security timesheets
  • Monitors, documents and reports internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities of the entire property as directed; prepares electronic statements via a non-gaming record keeping system
  • Responsible for managing the performance of the security team by providing feedback and supporting the overall contribution to the departmental deliverables.
  • Addresses issues that arise in a timely manner by conducting coaching conversations, issuing corrective actions, and participating in discipline meetings while following the collective agreement/company policy.
  • Administers and maintains various critical security systems and Enforces restricted access by unauthorized persons.
  • Reviews surveillance files; maintains site surveillance equipment; reports issues.
  • Observes cashier transactions and slot drops (if applicable); escorts cash and cash equivalent movements.
  • Conducts regular patrols of the entire property as directed; identifies risks and conditions that present safety issues for employees, guests, facility and company assets
  • Provides or assists with First Aid for employees and guests
  • Tags and reports found property; transfers to Lost & Found
  • Responds to, resolves or escalates security issues
  • Performs identification checks and crowd control, and may escort guests and employees or assign escort duties as required
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: operational departments, guests, ownership, employees, regulatory bodies and police authorities
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Coaches a team of engaged team members who care passionately about the business, site operations, and delivering a great guest experience.
  • Stewards workplace health, safety and wellness with a focus on employee education & training, workplace inspections and accident prevention not reaction;
  • Anticipates operational and service issues before they escalate, trouble-shoots and resolves guest concerns before they are complaints.
  • Takes an active role in the recruitment process by liaising with Human Resources and participating in job fairs, screening candidates, and conducting interviews as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
  • Secondary School Diploma; Post-Secondary education or a suitable combination of education and experience an asset
  • Minimum 2 years security experience in a gaming environment; supervisory experience an asset; surveillance experience an asset
  • People-focused and committed to service excellence
  • Proactive and solution-oriented with a drive to succeed
  • Must be willing to recertify every 3 years for Use of Force
  • Current First Aid and CPR with minimum 2 year validation period remaining
