We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Professional to join our team for an exciting and challenging project. This is an Independent Contractor role for an initial assignment of 3 months with the possibility of extension.
Project Information - First Nations Peacekeeper Program
Shifts - 7 days on, 7 days off rotation (84 hours every 2 weeks).
Day Shift:
7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Night Shift:
7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Each shift is
12 hours
in length.
Shifts include approximately
45 minutes travel time
each way between Edmonton (West Edmonton rendezvous point) and area of operation.

Patrol Area:
First Nations reserves, community spaces, leadership-identified hotspots, and designated locations in Whitecourt.
Transportation
Patrols conducted in branded pickup trucks marked
"Peace Keeper"
.
Vehicles exchanged between incoming/outgoing shifts at the West Edmonton rendezvous point.
Compensation
$350-425/day
(negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and assigned duties).
Meals
No meal allowance provided (as this is a local deployment based out of Edmonton).
Bring your own meals or purchase from nearby options in Lac St. Anne or the local General Store.

Main Duties
Patrol & Presence
Conduct visible mobile patrols and static surveillance across the reserves, community spaces, and designated high-priority areas.
By-Law Enforcement
Learn and enforce by-laws as an official agent of Chief and Council.
Carry out enforcement actions authorized through Band Council Resolutions (BCRs).
Community Contact Points
Conduct checkpoints at reserve entrances/exits for public engagement and safety messaging.
Distribute community safety pamphlets and tip-line cards.
Wellness & Mental Health Checks
Respond to situations involving mental health or addictions.
Provide initial assessment, support, and intervention.
Coordinate with First Nations health and social services as needed.
Reporting
Complete detailed shift reports documenting patrols, incidents, and community contacts.
Submit separate reports for significant events or notable intelligence findings.
Intelligence Gathering
Build rapport with community members to obtain accurate, reliable information.
Verify intelligence through corroboration and observation.
Maintain an Intelligence Hot Mapwith locations, dates, times, and associated individuals linked to criminal activity.
Develop and update a Target Organization Chartfor identified criminal actors.
Gang, Drug & Organized Crime Disruption
Conduct high-visibility patrols of known hotspots.
Engage in overt and covert surveillance based on gathered intelligence.
Identify and monitor high-risk properties linked to drug or gang activity.
Support BCR-authorized actions, including evictions, property securing (boarding), and security camera installation.
Professional Conduct
Identify yourself only as a
Peacekeeper employed by local leadership
.
Maintain professional, respectful interactions with all community members.
Maintain scheduled visibility patrols at the Whitecourt casino and other identified locations.
Operate specialized patrol equipment (spotlights, night vision devices, spotting scopes, cameras).
Address unauthorized off-road vehicle (quad) use through patrol, engagement, and education.
Qualifications
Proven experience in security roles or, previous experience in law enforcement or military serviceis strongly preferred.
Valid Alberta Security License
PPCT and Use of Force training
Strong understanding of surveillance systems and security protocols.
Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail.
Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clear abstract
Certification in Standard First Aid and level C CPR
Experience in criminal investigation processes is advantageous.
Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Familiarity with loss prevention strategies and animal handling techniques is beneficial.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
