Site Description:
The Exploits Valley Mall is the largest shopping centre in Central Newfoundland. Over the past few years it has grown into a shopping center with 1 national chain grocery store and fast food on the shopping mall pad. It's the known destination for shopping serving communities as far as 150 kms away. Exploits Valley Mall offers over 35 stores and services. You can choose national brand name fashion boutiques, fine jewellery, sporting goods, home fashion, and great dining options and services. Position Details:
Position: Casual Security Guard
Site: Exploits Valley Mall
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: As required
Payrate: $ 19.00/hour

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Mall Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Mall Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Mall Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• Valid Class 5 Driver License & must be willing to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance.
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
